Subscription cancellation and unwanted charges letter

A written cancellation gives you a dated record that the company can't ignore. Use it to end a contract and to ask for any charges taken after you cancelled.

About you
The company and your case
What happened and what you want

One or two short paragraphs is enough.

Optional parts

Your letter is created in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to plaint or stored anywhere.

Before you send it

  • Check the notice period in your contract and the date your current billing period ends.
  • Send it in a way you can prove, such as email with a read receipt or registered post.

If you're still being charged

  • List every charge taken after your cancellation date, with dates and amounts.
  • Ask your bank to block further payments to the company if the charges continue.

Questions people ask

Do I have to give a reason for cancelling?

No. Unless your contract says otherwise, you only need to state that you're cancelling and from which date.

The company says I can only cancel by phone. Is that allowed?

Many countries require companies to accept cancellation in the same way you signed up, or in writing. Send the letter anyway so you have a record.
